In the reading room of our library – considered beautiful by many people – we offer a pleasant pastime for everybody: let it be relaxing recreation, learning or careful studying of a given topic. Besides the existing some 70 thousand on the premises volumes – based on the previous years’ experience and by reader requests - we pay attention to the constant and the changing needs and we expand and update our collections in this spirit.

The specialized literature can be found in the reading room, mainly with loanable copies but naturally, comprising reference books of every specialization are available as part of the collection for use on the premises. The subject matters of social sciences and science of literature should be mentioned particulary, as serious units of these have been colleted during the years containing several standard works.

Due to the open-shelf arrangement, our readers have the opportunity to browse freely among the books. The shelves of the belles-lettres collection, placed in separate rooms, attract many people to become immersed. In our acquisitions we always pay attention to give place to the required reading (from secondary school to university equally) besides the most important belles-lettres pieces and romantic or adventure books.

In order to make choices easier, we brought into the limelight the popular books of entertaining literature and publications related to language learning, also the arts books and albums that we recently collected giving special attention to them.

Our computer based catalogue, the CD-ROM database service and internet usage are available for our readers. In our department the visitors can receive information provided from purchased and online databases. We also have special reading equipment for visitors with sight deficiencies, which makes reading possible.
