Europe Direct
Our European Union information service started operating on 14 April 2000 with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian Republic and the European Information Point of the Békés County Library. Our aim is to provide information for inhabitants of Gyula and the surrounding area about European Union related matters. It gave us some tasks periodically, so prior to the referendum in April 2003 we organized our programs to prepare the public for it, and after that to prepare for the accession to the EU with the help of our services. Of course it does not mean that grounds of our existence ceased on 1 May 2004. We remain at the visitors’ service if they need any information regarding the European Union, or related tenders. In our operation we attempted and still endeavour to give fast, accurate and impartial services.
